Charcoal Drawing Course with Jenny Jones
Submitted by Gleanings on Wed, 12/05/2010 - 13:18Gleanings is a new Rural Study Centre for Music, Art, Rural Crafts and the Natural World situated on our smallholding in the South Shroshire Hill - an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Converted from a farm building into a wooden sustainable centre with floor to ceiling windows giving panaramic views of the Stiperstones Hills. Here you can improve your skills and make new friends in a relaxed atmosphere. All lunches and snacks are home-made and included in the fee.
The aim of the course will be to build confidence and to introduce students to the possibilities of using charcoal as a medium. Both days will be fully tutored and will end with a discussion of the work completed during the day. The first day would consist of an introduction and exploration of materials working from an arrangement of objects. In the afternoon a large drawing will be undertaken. On the second day there will be a choice of working inside on a still life, or outside in locations around the house and gardens with a break for lunch at midday. Cost of course: £120 lunches, tea and coffee during course time.
