I am a practicing professional artist with exhibitions across the UK and Ireland since 1991. I specialise in oils and acrylics but occasionally work in watercolour, ink and pastel as well as in mixed media collage and found object sculpture. I have some technical experience of etching, monoprinting and lion-cuts. My subject matter is mainly concerned with the natural and man made landscapes of northern England but I have worked in Scottish and North American landscapes also. I also do portrait paintings and drawings from time to time. Since 1991 I have undertaken many public commissions including the National Trust, BT, AMEC Developments, English Nature, Gill Airways, Newcastle University library. I regularly undertake private portrait and landscape commissions. I have paintings in public and private collections across the UK.

As an art tutor and demonstrator I have been working with adults since 1992. This includes working continuously as a university adult education tutor with both Newcastle and Sunderland Universities since 1997, with Higham Hall College in Cumbria since 2004 and with Alston Hall College, Preston since 2009. I have done numerous demonstrations and workshops for art societies in north east England and Cumbria over the years and work with all sorts of groups in the community usually as an artist in residence. Additionally I have done lectures with undergraduates at art colleges and many one off workshops with primary and secondary schools. As a result I have helped a very wide variety of people with their artistic creativity ranging from 4 years to 92 years of age. As an artist helping students to develop their skills and talents I offer a wide range of knowledge and skills.
